Gus Kikin wins PBNU chairmanship for 2026-2031 in Jombang

KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, or Gus Kikin, was elected chairman of Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama for the 2026-2031 khidmah period at the 35th NU Muktamar at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum, Tambakberas, Jombang, on Monday (31/8). He was chosen through deliberation by the Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi after first leading the field with 472 votes in the candidate screening, ahead of four other names. After the decision was set, Gus Kikin read and then signed the Jam'iyyah Contract in the plenary session. The document requires that he not hold political office, not have served as a party administrator in the past year, and be ready to carry out the muktamar's decisions, preserve the organization's unity, and submit to the policies of the Rais Aam and Syuriyah.
