Muktamar NU names Miftahul Akhyar as PBNU Rais Am
The AHWA decision in Jombang clears the way for the next stage: choosing the PBNU chairman for 2026-2031.
The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Muktamar named Kiai Haji Miftahul Akhyar as Rais Am of Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama for the 2026-2031 term. The decision was reached by consensus by Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi in a closed session at Ndalem Kasepuhan K.H. Wahab Chasbullah, Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, on Sunday night. AHWA representative K.H. Anwar Iskandar said the deliberations involved nine members and were recorded in an official report for the muktamar agenda. AHWA also entrusted the newly selected Rais Am with bringing together all potential within NU, regardless of earlier organizational dynamics. After the Rais Am selection, the next step is choosing candidates for PBNU chairman, with names nominated by PC, PW, and PCINU.
