Qatar, Palestine offer condolences after M7.7 quake in NTT
The Social Affairs Ministry said about 2,000 people were affected, while BNPB reported 31 aftershocks through Saturday afternoon.
Qatar and Palestine expressed condolences to Indonesia after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Nagekeo Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur, on Saturday. The Qatar Embassy in Jakarta voiced sympathy for the victims and support for Indonesia, while the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also expressed solidarity and hoped the injured would recover soon. The disaster caused deaths, injuries and damage to buildings in Nagekeo, Sikka, Manggarai, Manggarai Timur, Ende and Manggarai Barat. Data from the Social Affairs Ministry as of 15.40 WIB showed about 2,000 people were affected. BNPB head Suharyanto said 31 aftershocks had occurred as of 15.00 WIB, including four with relatively strong magnitudes.
