Pramono visits home of victim killed in Pejompongan unrest
DKI Jakarta will cover funeral and burial costs, while police continue to investigate the cause of death.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung visited the wake of Bambang Setiawan, a resident who died after unrest in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, on Aug. 27. Pramono came to the wake on Jalan Pejompongan Raya, Bendungan Hilir, on Friday night, accompanied by Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin, and offered condolences to the family. Special adviser to the governor Chico Hakim said Pemprov DKI Jakarta will cover all costs for body preparation and burial and will provide assistance to the family. Police earlier evacuated Bambang after receiving a report from residents while the situation at the scene was still chaotic. The victim was taken to RS TNI AL Mintohardjo but was later declared dead. Polda Metro Jaya said the cause of death cannot yet be determined because the family refused an autopsy and signed a refusal letter.
