GRIB Jaya confirms Hercules was at clash site near DPR
The group denied ordering members to join the protest, saying the “go home” call was meant to disperse the crowd.
GRIB Jaya confirmed that Hercules was at the scene of the unrest during a demonstration near the DPR building on Aug. 27. GRIB Jaya legal division head Wilson Colling said Hercules’ presence should be viewed in the context of the security situation that night. He said the organization never instructed members to join the demonstration or any activity tied to it. According to Wilson, the presence on the ground was a persuasive effort to monitor the situation and maintain order, not to provoke or join a physical confrontation. He also addressed videos circulating on social media, including chants of “pulang, pulang,” which he said should be understood in light of the timing, location and sequence of events. Wilson said the call could be interpreted as an attempt to disperse the crowd peacefully once conditions were no longer conducive.
