Wildfire smoke makes Pekanbaru air dangerous, PM2.5 hits 508.8
Palembang remains blanketed by smoke at PM2.5 69.5, while Riau recorded 393 hot spots and Sumsel 1.207.
Smoke from forest and land fires pushed Pekanbaru air quality to dangerous levels, with PM2.5 concentrations reaching 508.8 micrograms per cubic meter on Tuesday at 01.00 WIB. BMKG Stasiun Pekanbaru recorded visibility in the city at about 2 kilometers, while Rengat was 2 kilometers, Pelalawan 5 kilometers, and Tambang 3 kilometers. Across Sumatera, hot spots on Monday totaled 2.193, led by Sumatera Selatan with 1.207 and followed by Riau with 393. In Riau, the largest land fires were in Pelalawan at 700 hectares and Inderagiri Hulu at 471 hectares. In Palembang, smoke also continued to cover the city, with PM2.5 at 69.5 micrograms per cubic meter, classified as unhealthy.
