West Kalimantan hotspots jump to 7,377, visibility drops below 1 km
BNPB still has 53 aircraft deployed across six priority provinces for patrols, weather modification and water bombing.
The number of forest and land fire hotspots in West Kalimantan rose again to 7,377 on Monday (31/8), up 3,553 in a day, while visibility fell to less than 1 kilometer. The National Disaster Management Agency also recorded fire points in West Kalimantan rising by 16 to 72. In Central Kalimantan, hotspots fell by 147 to 5,244, but fire points also rose to 72, with visibility below 1 kilometer. In South Kalimantan, hotspots dropped by 405 to 504, while fire points increased to 55 and visibility fell to less than 2 kilometers. BNPB said ground and air suppression efforts are still under way, with 53 aircraft deployed in six priority provinces, consisting of 19 patrol and weather modification aircraft and 34 water-bombing helicopters.
