Prabowo inspects NTT quake victims, leads meeting in Nagekeo
Since Aug. 15, the government has delivered 204,22 tons of staples and deployed two hospital ships for Flores relief.
President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (26/8) visited Nusa Tenggara Timur to inspect the response to the M7,7 earthquake that struck Flores on Aug. 15. Arriving shortly before 12:00, he went to the command post and then led a disaster-response meeting at the Batalyon Teritorial Pembangunan in Nagekeo Regency. Prabowo said he deliberately avoided coming in the first days so local governments and workers could focus on serving residents without being distracted by ceremonial visits from central officials. According to the government, from Aug. 15-24 it distributed 204,22 tons of staples, 27,71 tons of ready-to-eat food, 10,29 tons of mineral water, medicine, tents, blankets, mats, communications equipment and two sets of field hospitals. KRI Soeharso-990 is docked at Reo Port, while the RS Kapal Ksatria Airlangga is stationed in Nangalirang Bay.
