Prabowo adds 17 aircraft, 1,500 troops for wildfire fight
The Hambalang meeting also ordered reconstruction and aid for NTT quake victims, after the M7,7 temblor left 91 dead.
President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting in Hambalang, Bogor, Sunday night to accelerate efforts against forest and land fires in Kalimantan and post-quake assistance in Nusa Tenggara Timur. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the meeting decided to add 17 water bombing aircraft, deploy 1,500 additional troops with personal equipment, and send 200 pumps and pipes to extinguish fires in peat layers. At the same time, Prabowo also called for follow-up reconstruction and handling for residents affected by the M7,7 earthquake in Flores. BNPB said the national wildfire area reached 72.798 hectares, with West Kalimantan the largest at 38.310 hectares. For the NTT quake, BNPB reported 91 deaths and 5.688 aftershocks through the weekend.
