NTT quake aid rises as 3.6 tons of rendang sent
Starting Aug. 26, BPKH will distribute 9,000 meals, clean water, 900 aid packages, hygiene kits and shelter kits to seven regencies.
Aid for victims of the Nusa Tenggara Timur earthquake continues to grow after Pemerintah Kota Padang, together with Gebu Minang, LKAAM Sumatera Barat, Hipermi and Baznas Kota Padang, sent 3.6 tons of rendang. The shipment was dispatched at Minangkabau International Airport on Aug. 22, following an initial delivery on Aug. 17. The aid was flown by a TNI AU Hercules aircraft to Halim Perdanakusuma before being forwarded to affected areas. Padang Mayor Fadly Amran said fundraising is still under way with a target of 5 tons of rendang. On another front, BPKH is preparing phased distribution starting Aug. 26 to seven regencies, including Ngada, Sikka, Manggarai, Manggarai Barat, Nagekeo and Manggarai Timur, consisting of food, clean water, health services and 900 cans of rendang.
