Jombang NU congress supported by 24,000 free meals
PBNU’s kitchen has distributed 12,000 meal boxes, while Muhammadiyah’s post added more than 12,000 meatball servings and health services.
The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama congress in Jombang received support of at least 24,000 free meal portions from two separate posts. The Free Nutritious Meal kitchen under Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama has distributed more than 12,000 meal boxes since Aug. 26 for participants during the Aug. 27-31 forum at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum, Tambakberas. According to program person in charge Gus Ulun, about 3,000 boxes a day were delivered to the post or picked up directly by participants. At the same time, Pengurus Daerah Muhammadiyah Jombang opened a food and health post after coordinating with local organizers. The post prepared 10,000 cups of meatballs, 10,000 boiled eggs and hot drinks, and the meatball tally rose above the target to more than 12,000 portions in three days.
