NU congress weighs bylaw changes and PBNU election method
The commission sessions were held behind closed doors in Jombang, with the results set to go before the plenary for approval.
The Organizing Commission at the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress reviewed proposals to amend the Articles of Association and Bylaws and the method for electing the leadership of PBNU in Jombang, East Java, on Saturday. Congress Steering Committee secretary Muhammad Nuh said the sessions were closed to give delegates more room for deliberation. In addition to the Organizing Commission, the Program Commission and the Recommendations Commission also met behind closed doors. Organizers said all materials had been inventoried and some issues likely to trigger differences had already been discussed at pre-congress meetings. Once the commission work is finished, the results will be taken to the plenary session for approval and then conveyed to the public.
