U.S. strikes Iran again after drone hits LNG tanker in Egypt
Explosions were reported in Qeshm, Bushehr and Abadan as Washington said the strikes were retaliation for threats to its forces.
The United States launched another strike on Iran on Wednesday night U.S. time, or early Thursday WIB, a few days after a temporary pause in the two countries' escalation. CENTCOM said the operation began at 20.00 ET in response to an attempted Iranian attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East. The latest strike came after the U.S. LNG tanker Energos Winter was hit by a drone at Damietta Port, Egypt. Iranian media reported the attack also targeted an area near Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province, near the Iraq border. CNN Indonesia, citing local reports, said explosions were heard on Qeshm Island, in Bushehr and Abadan. There have been no official reports of casualties or damage from the latest round of strikes.
