Iran claims 3 U.S. F-35 jets destroyed at Al Azraq base, Jordan
Iran said the retaliation followed new U.S. strikes on Iran, including an attack on Qeshm Island the same day.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, on Thursday claimed to have destroyed three U.S. F-35 fighter jets in a ballistic missile strike on Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC also said three other aircraft were badly damaged and that several U.S. military personnel were killed. In a statement quoted by Iranian media, it said the targets were an aircraft parking area and a maintenance hangar used by the U.S. military. Tehran described the strike as retaliation for a new wave of U.S. attacks on Iran the same day. Iranian reports said the U.S. strikes hit Qeshm Island and killed a family. Earlier, U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, said it had completed strikes targeting military command centers, missile and drone facilities, and Iran's maritime capabilities.
