In Manokwari, Gibran urges peace so Papua can be built
He cited Papua projects including hospitals, Trans Papua, Sekolah Rakyat, markets, MBG and Kampung Nelayan.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka called for a peaceful, conducive atmosphere so development in Papua can move forward, while opening the XIV National Pesparawi in Manokwari, Papua Barat, on Saturday, June 20, 2026. In his remarks, Gibran said government development is no longer centered on Java, but is being spread more evenly across regions, with Papua among the priorities. He cited a number of projects and programs in the region, including hospitals, the Trans Papua road, Sekolah Rakyat, markets, Makan Bergizi Gratis and Kampung Nelayan. According to Gibran, the development effort is aimed at reducing inequality, expanding access and improving the welfare of Papuans. He also highlighted the need to maintain facilities already built, including Lapangan Borarsi, which is being used for the Pesparawi event.
