Gibran brings 5 students to monitor MBG, Kopdes in eastern Indonesia

The group was taken to Ende, Gorontalo and Papua as critics questioned whether the student involvement was politically motivated.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka invited five students from several campuses on a working visit to eastern Indonesia on Thursday, June 18, 2026. They were taken to Ende, Gorontalo, and Papua to monitor the governance of the Makan Bergizi Gratis program and Koperasi Desa Merah Putih. The five students were Kaletus Sakaro from Universitas Sanata Dharma, Daffa Ulhaq from Universitas Indonesia, Nolan Christoper Adam from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Rapid Bena Matin from Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, and Salsabila Maulida from Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Bandung. Gibran said the student involvement was intended to strengthen oversight, transparency, and accountability for the two government priority programs. But Dedi Kurnia Syah, executive director of Indonesia Political Opinion, said the move was heavily political and would not automatically improve policy quality.
