Government sends 27 tons of supplies to NTT quake zone
More than 3,500 TNI-Polri personnel have been deployed, while the death toll was reported at 47-48.
The government sent a total of 27 tons of relief supplies to areas affected by the 7.7-magnitude quake in Nusa Tenggara Timur through Saturday night, Aug. 15. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the shipments were flown in several Hercules aircraft sorties, with the final flight departing Halim Perdanakusuma shortly before midnight. President Prabowo Subianto also ordered Pratikno, Tito Karnavian, Dody Hanggodo, BNPB chief Suharyanto, Basarnas chief Mohammad Syafii, and deputy ministers for health and social affairs to fly to NTT on the day of the disaster. Personnel from PLN, Pertamina and Telkom were also deployed. That same day, more than 3,500 TNI-Polri personnel were sent to Manggarai, Maumere, Flores and other affected areas for evacuations and recovery efforts.
