Manggarai Timur official protests inadequate quake aid for 11 villages

Lamba Leda Utara subdistrict head in Manggarai Timur, Agustinus Supratman, protested post-quake aid distribution in Flores, saying it was inadequate and did not match residents' needs. In a video that circulated, he argued with a BNPB officer after being told to divide assistance evenly among 11 villages, while the amount of supplies was seen as too small for 21.171 people. Agustinus said the pressure triggered protests from all villages in his area and asked that deliveries be transparent and targeted properly. Amid the dispute, BNPB head Suharyanto said the government was still speeding up delivery of basic supplies for evacuees from the 7,7 magnitude quake in Nusa Tenggara Timur. BNPB also acknowledged remaining shortfalls on the ground, including complaints of clean water and electricity shortages in several locations.
