44 RSUD Undata Palu Patients Treated Outside After M6.7 Quake
Patients were moved to tents and the hospital forecourt after two afternoon aftershocks, even as the main building was deemed usable.
Forty-four patients at RSUD Undata Palu were treated temporarily in tents and on the hospital forecourt after a magnitude 6.7 quake struck Sulawesi Tengah on Tuesday. Hospital management had returned patients to their rooms after inspecting the building about two hours after the main tremor at 11.27 WITA. But two aftershocks in the afternoon sent patients back to open areas. Deputy Director of Care Franklin Sinanu said the move was taken because patients on the third and fourth floors would be difficult to evacuate quickly if stronger shaking occurred. Inspection results showed the four-story main building remained fit for use, with minor damage in two rooms. Health services were said to continue normally and all evacuated patients were safe.
