Iran attack damages U.S. intelligence facilities in Middle East

Iranian missile and drone attacks reportedly severely damaged U.S. intelligence facilities and surveillance equipment in the Middle East. NBC News, cited by several media outlets, reported that the damage hit buildings and intelligence collection devices used by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies in several countries in the region. Repair or replacement costs are estimated at billions of dollars. Four sources familiar with the matter said the level of damage was more severe than any previous incident involving U.S. intelligence agencies. Tensions have risen since the U.S. and Israel struck targets in Iran on 28 Februari, after which Teheran retaliated with attacks on U.S. assets in the region, including Prince Sultan base in Arab Saudi. Although a memorandum of understanding was signed in mid-June, the dispute has continued.
