Government prepares incentives for 1 million local electric motorcycles
The budget is already in place, and the final package will be aligned with the battery ecosystem and products such as Alva and Gesits.
The government is preparing incentives for one million electric motorcycles made domestically by Indonesian companies. Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the budget for the program is already available, but the scheme is still being finalized after receiving approval from President Prabowo Subianto. Airlangga said the incentive design will be aligned with the electric motorcycle ecosystem that has been built, with initial attention on battery components. He cited products linked to that ecosystem, including Alva and Gesits. Prabowo previously said the incentives were aimed at lowering vehicle costs for the public, reducing fuel imports, and expanding the national electric motorcycle industry along with the supply chain for batteries, components, software, and after-sales services.
