Prabowo launches Giant Sea Wall project for Pantura

President Prabowo Subianto said the Giant Sea Wall project on Java's north coast will soon begin as a coastal protection belt threatened by erosion and rising sea levels. In his 2027 draft budget speech at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, Prabowo said the project would be divided into 15 segments from Banten to Gresik, East Java, with completion expected in about 15 to 20 years. He said the massive seawall is intended to protect millions of Pantura residents and save tens of thousands of hectares of land that are starting to sink. According to Prabowo, the project is also designed as clean water infrastructure, a new growth corridor and a venue for applying technology from BRIN.
