BMKG recorded 118 aftershocks by Wednesday afternoon, while the government reported no deaths and no major campus damage.

A magnitude 6.7 tectonic quake that struck Palu, Central Sulawesi, damaged a number of buildings in Palu city, Sigi district and Parigi Moutong, including the Auditorium of Universitas Tadulako and the Sigi regent's office. As of Wednesday afternoon, BMKG had received no reports of fatalities and said the shallow quake, linked to activity on the Sausu fault, did not have tsunami potential. At Untad, initial damage included collapsed ceilings, cracked walls and floors, broken glass, videotron disruptions in the auditorium, and damage to laboratory equipment and computers. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto said there were no reports of serious damage that had halted campus operations. BMKG recorded 118 aftershocks, with the largest measuring 5.1, and urged residents to stay away from cracked or damaged buildings.
