U.S. strikes Sirik and Qeshm in Iran, 13 blasts near Hormuz
The fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire is under strain after Washington said the strikes retaliated for attacks on three commercial ships near Oman.
The United States launched another attack on Iran on Tuesday night, with at least 13 explosions reported at Sirik Port and Qeshm Island around the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media also reported blasts in Bandar Abbas; projectiles were said to have struck a commercial dock in Sirik, a fishing dock in Ziarat village, and civilian fishing boats. The governor of Hormozgan Province, according to IRNA, said there were no reports of civilian fatalities. CENTCOM said the strikes were a response to alleged Iranian attacks on three commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, including Qatar LNG carrier Al-Rekayyat. The incident came as the two countries remained under a ceasefire and had just signed a memorandum of understanding to halt the war.
