Gibran inspects NTT quake evacuees; death toll rises to 75
The government has disbursed about Rp44 miliar, while nearly 60,000 residents remain displaced across NTT.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived in Maumere, Sikka Regency, on Thursday (20/8) to inspect post-earthquake response efforts in Nusa Tenggara Timur with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno. He visited evacuees at SD Inpres Wairklau, inspected damage at Laurentius Say Port, and then went to RSUD TC Hillers Maumere. At the hospital, Gibran viewed the emergency treatment tents, requested additional coverings, and checked the NICU ward. He also brought six students from the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia, to help with trauma healing for victims. BNPB reported that the death toll from the quake in NTT has risen to 75, after 71 were recorded the previous day. The government has also distributed about Rp44 miliar, while aid deliveries have reached 398 tons and the number of evacuees stands at 59.647 people.
