Drunk pickup driver hits DPR gate, police find sharp weapon
Several security personnel at the DPR complex were injured, and police are still probing whether the suspect had ties to an ormas.
Police arrested the driver of a pickup truck that hit the Gerbang Pancasila gate at the DPR/MPR building in Jakarta during a protest on Thursday (27/8/2026). Budi Hermanto, head of public relations for Polda Metro Jaya, said the driver from Jember, East Java, was still under the influence of alcohol when taken into custody. Police said the vehicle tried to force its way through the entrance and injured several security personnel at the site. Officers also found a sharp weapon inside the pickup truck. Police are still examining whether the suspect had any link to an organization masyarakat. The incident came amid a series of clashes around the DPR/MPR complex that earlier led to the arrest of hundreds of people.
