Sept. 27 protest prompts traffic shifts near DPR and Istana
The transportation agency deployed 120 officers in two shifts, while police said no roads will be closed permanently.
The Jakarta Transportation Agency is preparing traffic management around the DPR/MPR building and Istana Negara on Thursday (8/27) to prevent gridlock during a protest. The plan is divided into three zones, and traffic will be diverted only if congestion develops on the ground.
Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Budi Awaluddin said 120 officers are on standby in two shifts, with 60 officers each from 07.00-13.00 WIB and 13.00-19.00 WIB. Roads being monitored include Jalan Letjen S Parman, the Gatot Subroto-Sudirman corridor, and the areas of MH Thamrin, Medan Merdeka Barat, Kebon Sirih, and Budi Kemuliaan.
Firman Darmansyah, director of traffic at Polda Metro Jaya, added that no roads will be closed. Road users are asked to use alternative routes if traffic is diverted.
