Police disperse DPR protesters with water cannon at night
Gatot Subroto in front of DPR remains closed as toll access, TransJakarta stops and several roads were shut first.
Police dispersed protesters who were still staying in front of the DPR building in Jakarta on Thursday night, after the parliamentary complex had been under tight guard since morning and demonstrators were randomly checked. Around 19:00 WIB, officers pushed the protesters back with water cannon and then directed them toward Jalan Gerbang Pemuda and Slipi. Several access points to the parliamentary area had already been closed, including traffic diverted via Jalan Gerbang Pemuda, the closure of the Senayan toll exit, and adjustments to TransJakarta services at Halte Gerbang Pemuda and Petamburan. The crowd had gathered in front of the DPR gate, while representatives of Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu were invited into the parliamentary complex for an audience. The protest took place alongside a DPR plenary session that included the Asset Confiscation Bill agenda.
