Dasco: Limited dual citizenship aimed at expert diaspora

The DPR has not taken a formal position, while the proposed scheme is described as selective with integrity checks and clear duties.

DPR RI Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the proposed limited dual citizenship is aimed at helping the Indonesian diaspora, which he said could contribute labor and ideas without giving up the citizenship they now hold. He said the idea is still under discussion and will be designed in a limited and selective way. Dasco also has not yet set out the DPR's institutional position on the planned changes to citizenship rules. Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto said the government will propose legal changes to the DPR so that certain talents needed by Indonesia can hold dual citizenship. Prabowo said the group includes scientists, doctors, engineers, AI experts, researchers, businesspeople, artists and professional athletes.
