Baznas opens medical post, public kitchen for NTT quake victims

BNPB counted 92,735 evacuees on Thursday, while Baznas estimated losses in eight regencies at Rp2.2 trillion.

Baznas RI has opened health-service posts and public kitchens for victims of the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur, with service points including Pondok Pesantren Pancasila, Desa Mata Air, Kecamatan Reok, Manggarai Barat. Through Baznas Tanggap Bencana and Rumah Sehat Baznas, the agency is distributing ready-to-eat meals, evacuation tents, medical services and supplies for mothers and children. As of Thursday, 20 August at 16.00 WIB, BNPB recorded 92,735 evacuees. Baznas also estimates total losses in eight affected regencies at Rp2.2 trillion, including 19,317 damaged homes with housing damage valued at about Rp1.42 trillion. BMKG said aftershocks after the magnitude 7.7 quake in Flores could continue for another three to four weeks.
