M4.8 quake shakes waters northeast of Ruteng, NTT
New: BMKG recorded the quake 16 minutes after a M4.0 tremor in the same area, with no tsunami, casualties or damage reported.
A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook waters 84 kilometers northeast of Ruteng, Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday at 00.42 WITA. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said the epicenter was at 7.85 degrees South Latitude and 120.50 degrees East Longitude, at a depth of 31 kilometers. As of this report, there was no information on tsunami potential or reports of casualties or damage. A few hours earlier, BMKG also monitored a series of other quakes in East Nusa Tenggara waters with magnitudes of 2.0 to 4.0. One was a magnitude 4.0 quake at 00.26 WITA, 74 kilometers from Ruteng, at a depth of 14 kilometers.
