Prabowo sends 50,000 aid packages to NTT quake victims
BNPB counted 38 dead and 2,000 evacuees as supplies from Flores Timur began moving to hit areas.
President Prabowo Subianto dispatched 50,000 food aid packages to Maumere for residents affected by the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur on Saturday (15/8). Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the president's aid is intended to meet initial logistics needs in the disaster zone. Prabowo also assigned Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, BNPB head Suharyanto, and Basarnas head Mohammad Syafii to Labuan Bajo and Maumere. The government is preparing food, clean water, tents, generators and other emergency supplies. BNPB recorded as of 15.00 WIB that 38 people had died, two were seriously injured, 11 had minor injuries, and 2,000 residents had evacuated on their own. Manggarai and Manggarai Timur regencies were the worst hit.
