Police find 74 kg of gold at luxury house in Sentul, Bogor
The haul came during searches at 12 locations tied to three corruption cases, alongside rupiah and U.S. and Singapore dollars.
Police found 74 kilograms of gold bars at a luxury house in Sentul, Bogor, while investigating three corruption cases. The gold was stored in a safe hidden behind a wall. In a series of searches covering 12 locations, investigators also opened another safe on the second floor of De'clan Signature cafe in Cipete, South Jakarta. The safe, measuring about 2 x 1 meters, was concealed behind a cabinet and contained documents and cash in rupiah, U.S. dollars and Singapore dollars. CNBC Indonesia did not identify the owner of the Sentul house or the direct link between each location and the three cases under investigation. The discovery of the gold and high-value foreign currency again highlights a pattern of asset concealment in corruption cases.
