Indonesia anti-graft prosecutor quits after police seize 74 kg of gold
What's next: Police said 15 witnesses have been questioned and suspects in the corruption and money-laundering probe could be named soon.
Indonesia's top anti-corruption prosecutor resigned after police raids tied to graft investigations turned up 74 kilograms of gold bars and large amounts of cash at properties linked to him in and around Jakarta. Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah stepped down on Saturday, and Attorney General's Office spokesman Anang Supriatna said the resignation had been accepted. Police spokesman Budi Hermanto said officers searched at least 12 locations, including a house in Bogor, a cafe and another house in South Jakarta, seizing US$5.8 million and S$17.2 million in cash along with the gold. Febrie acknowledged the Bogor house was his residence but denied the seized assets were tied to graft. Police are examining three cases, including alleged corruption and money laundering linked to coal procurement for state utility PLN.
