Polda NTT sends 125 officers to Flores after quake
A joint team left Kupang on Kapal Ile Labalekan for evacuation, medical care, aid distribution and security operations.
Polda Nusa Tenggara Timur sent 125 personnel from Kupang to Flores to bolster efforts to handle the impact of the earthquake that shook the area. The group departed on Kapal Ile Labalekan as part of a post-disaster humanitarian operation. Acting head of public relations for Polda NTT, Kombes Pol Sajimin, said the force includes 30 Brimob personnel, 23 Samapta, 18 Polair, 10 Dokkes, 10 Intelkam, 10 Reskrim, 10 Logistik, 9 Binmas, and 5 Humas. Brimob and Samapta will support security and evacuation, Polair will help movement by sea, while Dokkes will provide health services. At the same time, ITB earthquake expert Irwan Meilano warned that aftershocks remain possible in the back-arc thrust zone of Flores.
