NTT quake: Kemensos sends Rp4.52 billion aid after 38 die
About 2,000 residents were affected in Nagekeo, Sikka, Manggarai, Manggarai Barat and Ende, while evacuee data are still being tallied.
Kementerian Sosial has mobilized about Rp4.52 billion in logistical aid for emergency response to the magnitude 7.7 quake in Nusa Tenggara Timur after preliminary reports put the death toll at 38, with six injured and two still trapped under rubble. Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf said civilian safety, meeting evacuees' basic needs and recording casualties are the priorities. By 15.40 WIB, about 2,000 people had been affected, mainly in Kabupaten Nagekeo, Sikka, Manggarai, Manggarai Barat and Ende. Kementerian Sosial has deployed Tagana and PSKB teams and distributed supplies from Sentra Efata Kupang, the NTT Social Affairs Office warehouse and the central warehouse in Bekasi. Temporary evacuation sites have been prepared in Mbay, Maumere, Borong and Ruteng as damage assessments of homes and public facilities continue.
