Polda Metro Jaya is processing 45 suspects in the rioting that broke out after a peaceful protest at DPR RI on Thursday, August 27. Criminal law observer at Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta, Edi Saputra Hasibuan, called on police to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators and whether any parties hijacked the rally to provoke a security disturbance. He said the riot erupted after the peaceful crowd left the site. He also highlighted the 323 people who were briefly detained, including 160 children, and said their involvement should be examined further. Edi urged Polda Metro Jaya to disclose the identities of the rioting group and explain each person’s role so the public can understand the sequence of events around the DPR complex.
