Jonatan to face Victor Lai in Indonesia Open 2026 final
Jonatan keeps alive hopes of ending the hosts' men's singles title drought, last won in 2012.
Jonatan Christie advanced to the Indonesia Open 2026 final and will meet the tournament's surprise package, Victor Lai, at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on Sunday. Jonatan booked his place in the title match after coming from behind against Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul 16-21, 21-10, 21-12, while Victor ousted sixth seed Chou Tien Chen in a three-game contest 21-19, 19-21, 21-19. For Jonatan, it is his first Indonesia Open final after several previous setbacks at home. The victory also opened the door for Indonesia to end its men's singles title drought at the event since Simon Santoso won in 2012. Jonatan said Victor is dangerous because he takes risks, has pace and power, and added that he was preparing tactics after reviewing his opponent's game again.
