Iranian missiles strike 2 UAE tankers in Strait of Hormuz; 1 crewman dies
Eight people were injured, four seriously, after the two ships caught fire in Omani waters.
Two United Arab Emirates tankers, Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, were hit by Iranian cruise missiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz shipping lane in Omani territorial waters on Tuesday. The UAE Ministry of Defense said the attack killed one Indian crew member aboard Mombasa and wounded eight people, including four with serious injuries. The injured were six Indian nationals and two Ukrainians. Both vessels caught fire and sustained material damage, but the blaze was later brought under control. UKMTO also received a report that a tanker was struck by a projectile in the engine room on the starboard side about 40 nautical miles northeast of Qalhat, Oman. The incident came amid a new escalation after the United States carried out strikes against Iran.
