Government focuses on restoring access, infrastructure after NTT quake
27,700 residents remain in 107 evacuation points, while casualties are put at 67 dead, 509 seriously injured and 669 lightly injured.
The government is concentrating post-earthquake response in Nusa Tenggara Timur on reopening access to affected areas and restoring basic infrastructure so aid can reach residents. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said heavy equipment from the Ministry of Public Works had been deployed since the first day to support evacuations, clear cut-off roads and prevent areas from being isolated by landslides and road damage. The next priority is restoring water and power networks. In the field, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo inspected Manggarai and Manggarai Timur. Latest data show 1,245 victims, including 67 dead, 509 seriously injured and 669 lightly injured. A total of 27,700 residents are still sheltering at 107 points across seven regencies.
