42 companies suspected in Kalimantan wildfires, 6 sanctioned

Six PBPH holders were sanctioned over 1,511.55 hectares burned, with one permit frozen after repeated fires.

A total of 42 companies in Kalimantan are suspected of involvement in forest and land fires, and 11 of them are in Kalimantan Selatan. During an inspection of the karhutla site on Jalan Kurnia, Landasan Ulin Barat, Banjarbaru, on Monday, the Minister of LH said data for Sumatra is still being updated. Handling of suspected criminal cases involving individuals and corporations will be carried out with the police, while fines and administrative sanctions fall under the authority of KLH. Separately, Kemenhut imposed administrative sanctions on six PBPH holders in Kalimantan Barat, Kalimantan Tengah, Kalimantan Timur, and Kalimantan Selatan over a total of 1,511.55 hectares burned. PT MPK was also hit with a suspension of its business license because the fires were described as extensive and repeated.
