Kemenhub processes 35 permits for foreign aircraft to fight fires
Aircraft already cleared can be moved to other affected areas after notice to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation within 1x24 hours.
The Ministry of Transportation is processing 35 special permits for the use of foreign-registered aircraft to bolster efforts against forest and land fires in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan. The facilitation includes faster licensing, operational support, and flight safety oversight. Aircraft that have already received permits can also be repositioned to other locations that need disaster-response support under Directorate General of Civil Aviation Decree No. KP 9 Tahun 2021. Operators only need to notify the Directorate General of Civil Aviation within 1 x 24 hours. Aircraft deployment will follow field needs and coordination with BNPB, BPBD, regional governments, or leasing parties, while certification and airworthiness remain under Kemenhub oversight.
