US revises China hacking claim, says NASA and Fed were targets

U.S. officials narrowed their account of a China-linked cyber campaign after initially indicating several agencies had been hacked. In an edited statement posted Friday, the Justice Department said the U.S. Senate, the Federal Reserve, NASA and other organizations were among the targets of QTFY, a spy platform tied to a domain-seizure operation disclosed earlier this week. An earlier version had described those agencies as victims. The department added a note saying the release was revised to match allegations in the affidavit supporting the seizures. Fox News, citing the department, said targets since 2018 also included the Justice Department, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health, as well as companies in the United States and South Korea.
