Trump gives Iran ultimatum: sign deal or face blockade

United States President Donald Trump gave Iran an ultimatum to sign a deal, while threatening that a military blockade would remain in place until there is a "deal or total surrender." On Monday night in the United States, Trump also called it Tehran's "last chance" to negotiate, even as Iran denied it was holding direct talks with Washington. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said the only talks under way were with Oman to ensure shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump previously said he had canceled plans for a major air strike and opted to continue diplomacy at the request of several regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. The dispute over whether talks are taking place comes as Hormuz remains a major pressure point in the U.S.-Iran conflict.
