Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Iran is only in talks with Oman and that those discussions concern a temporary navigation route in the Strait of Hormuz, not a broader reopening of the waterway. The dispute underscored how uncertain diplomacy remains after months of war and repeated threats of escalation. Before the conflict, the strait carried about a fifth of traded oil and natural gas. Oil prices fell sharply Monday as investors weighed the chance of talks against the risk of new military flare-ups.
