Singapore minister Faishal Ibrahim quits over messages to woman

Why it matters: His exit leaves Marine Parade-Braddell Heights MPs to take over Kembangan constituency work and appeals.

Singapore acting minister-in-charge of Muslim affairs Faishal Ibrahim resigned on July 20 after what he called a “lapse of judgment” in his interactions with a woman. Channel News Asia reported that he stepped down as a political office holder, Member of Parliament and member of the People’s Action Party. Faishal had represented Kembangan in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC after the PAP team won the constituency in the 2025 general election walkover. Seah Kian Peng said the remaining MPs in the group representation constituency would cover Faishal’s ward duties, including meet-the-people session cases, appeals and ongoing community programs.
