Pertamina processes waste cooking oil into 11 million liters of biojet fuel in Cilacap

The commercial SAF output uses up to 5 percent waste cooking oil in TDHT co-processing and is supported by three partner waste banks.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga produced about 11 million liters of co-processed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in October 2026 at the Green Refinery Cilacap in Central Java, using waste cooking oil as feedstock. The company said the output has entered the commercialization stage. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka reviewed the process at the Cilacap refinery on Monday, 26 October. According to PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Deputy President Director I Taufik Aditiyawarman, the share of waste cooking oil in the co-processing at the thermal distillate hydro treating (TDHT) unit reached a maximum of 5 percent of total capacity. To secure supply, Pertamina has built a collection network with three partner waste banks at the Cilacap refinery: Beo Asri, Abhipraya, and Cahaya Asri, so household waste can generate economic value while also supplying biojet fuel.
