Israeli strike kills 3 Lebanese soldiers in south Lebanon
What's new: The attack came days after a US-brokered truce, and Israel said it was reviewing the strike on the military vehicle.
An Israeli strike on a military vehicle in southern Lebanon killed two Lebanese officers and one soldier on June 6, according to the Lebanese army, in a setback to fresh ceasefire efforts between Israel and Hezbollah. The attack hit the Khardali-Nabatieh road near Kfar Tebnit, close to Nabatieh. Israel’s military said the vehicle was moving suspiciously in an active combat zone and that it had indications Hezbollah was preparing to fire from the area. It said an initial inquiry found three Lebanese soldiers were inside and that the incident was under review. The strike came days after Lebanese and Israeli envoys disclosed a conditional truce in Washington that called for Hezbollah to halt fire and for the Lebanese army to expand control in pilot zones near the border.
