Israel hits Beirut suburbs after 2 rockets cross from Lebanon

What's new: Lebanese state media reported 2 dead and 11 injured, and Israel later warned residents to leave Tyre ahead of possible strikes.

Israel struck Beirut's southern suburbs on June 7 after its military intercepted two projectiles that crossed from Lebanon into northern Israel, reopening fears of a wider clash with Hezbollah despite an April ceasefire. Lebanese state media said the attack hit two apartments in two buildings in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold, and reported an initial toll of two dead and 11 wounded. Israel said it targeted Hezbollah infrastructure or a command site and later issued evacuation warnings for much of the southern city of Tyre and nearby areas. Hezbollah did not immediately claim the cross-border launch, though it separately reported attacks on Israeli troops in Lebanon.
