Indonesia stocks rise 0.3% as Fed pause lifts risk appetite

What's new: Brent jumped above $90 a barrel and Indonesia's exchange kept the IDXBUMN20 index lineup unchanged for Aug. 5-Feb. 2.

Indonesia's benchmark stock index opened higher Thursday as investors turned more willing to take risk after the Federal Reserve kept its policy rate unchanged. The Jakarta Composite Index rose 18.89 points, or 0.31%, to 6,110.28, while the LQ45 gained 0.42% to 609.04. Phintraco Sekuritas said the index could test the 6,000 psychological level during trading. Offshore, the Fed held rates at 3.5% to 3.75%, though three officials favored tighter policy, highlighting continued inflation worries. Brent crude closed above $90 a barrel and WTI at $84 after President Donald Trump threatened a hard U.S. response to Iran over an alleged attempted attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East.
